This work has ranged from supplying new large EQ safety related motors, performing contaminated motor repair, to repairing and testing MOV's. We have developed and maintain a highly extensive 10CFR50 Appendix B QA program, which allows us to perform safety-related repairs and commercial grade dedications.

Nuclear energy is a highly regulated industry with strict protocols for the motor repair and decontamination services, and Schulz Nuclear is licensed by the NRC to decontaminate motors to unconditional free-release status. All radiation workers must undergo rigorous training and pass a written examination to service equipment. Routine inspections for radioactive contamination are regularly conducted throughout the entire facility to maintain the highest standards for safety and compliance. A team of trained radiation workers, along with an onsite radiation safety officer, receive and survey incoming motors that are potentially contaminated, and will perform the necessary decontamination process prior to release. Methods of decontamination include bead blasting, cryogenics, steam cleaning, non-destructive, paint stripping, and hand cleaning.
